The following new items caught our eye on the Commission's website:

CC15 - Charity Reporting and Accounting: The essentials - This new guidance updates the charity reporting and accounting framework for all charities with financial years beginning after 27 February 2007.


Consultation on Draft Public Benefit Guidance (June 2007):  'Public Benefit' is the legal requirement that all charities must have charitable purposes which are for the public benefit. Our recent Consultation on Draft Public Benefit Guidance ended on 6 June. We are now analysing the responses. We wish to thank everyone who has contributed to our consultation. We aim to publish our public benefit guidance - Charities and Public Benefit - in October 2007.


New Charity Commission Board Members: the Cabinet Office has announced the appointment of four new Board members for the Charity Commission, who will take up their new positions this summer.

The new Board members are:

Sharmila Nebhrajani, Finance Director & Chief Operating Officer- BBC Future Media and Technology
Andrew Purkis OBE, Chief Executive of the Tropical Health and Education Trust
Theo Sowa, Policy Advisor and consultant to a wide range of international development organisations
Simon Wethered, a legal consultant with Charles Russell LLP
