HR Policies and the Staff Handbook

This course will:

  • Discuss generally the impact and drafting of HR policy frameworks, including utilisation of staff handbooks
  • Consider the impact of legislation associated with family friendly policies
  • Outline best practice policy frameworks
  • Provide practical guidance regarding implementation of HR procedures

Learning Outcomes

Following this course, trainees will understand:

  • The internal and external factors influencing HR policies
  • The framework of policies relating to employment contracts, eg grievance, working time, pay
  • The framework of ‘family friendly’ policies
  • The framework of governance policies, eg equal opportunities, smoking, alcohol and drugs
  • The statutory minimum requirements relating to these policies
  • The role and structure of the staff handbook
